  • debbie mitchell, director

Hello. My name is Debbie Mitchell. I was born in Oak Harbor. My dad was in the Navy, so I got to experience life off the island with wonderful summers visiting my grandparents here. My senior year of high school I got to come home to Oak Harbor, got married and raised my family here.

I have been serving and teaching children since I was 19 years old during Sunday School and Children's Church. During a move to Iowa for my husband's job, I served as Interim Preschool Director at Westview Church Preschool and then as an assistant teacher. I have loved teaching preschool ever since. It is such a joy to provide a fun, safe place to explore, learn, and play.

I look forward to what this year has in store as I get to know your child and help enrich their lives at Grace Community Preschool. What a great year of growth this will be!

  • Bryttany scudder, lead teacher for k4 class

Hello! My name is Bryttany Scudder, and I will be the Lead K4 Teacher this year.

I was born and raised in Southern California, and the Navy planted us here in Oak Harbor in early 2018. In my free time I enjoy volunteering, spending time with family, hiking, and being crafty. Although I have my degree in medicine, I have experience teaching at the college level as well as being a substitute teacher at Grace Community Preschool for the 2018-2019 school year.

I am very excited to be working with your children to prepare them for next year as they anticipate venturing into the Kindergarten world.

  • SAMANTHA MITCHELL, assistant teacher for k4 class

Hi. My name is Samantha Mitchell. I cannot be more excited to start out this new school year teaching your kiddos!

I was asked to be a sub for about a month before the end of the last school year here at Grace. In that short period of time, my experience there was so welcoming from the staff and the kids that I knew Grace Community Preschool was the place I wanted to be.

What I look forward to in this new school year will be the art projects with the kids. Art has always been my main hobby/passion, and being able to help kids experience creativity at such a young age is very rewarding.

I am beyond excited to experience all the wonderful memories this year will have to offer!

  • LAUREN BUFORD, Lead Teacher for K2-A and K3 classes

Hello. My name is Lauren Buford. My family recently moved to Oak Harbor from San Diego, and we are truly enjoying the change of pace!

I ran a home-school-based toddler group for three wonderful years before we moved, and it was an incredible experience. Aside from that, I enjoy volunteering, hiking, and spending every moment with my family.

I am beyond excited to join this journey with your children here at Grace Community Preschool. I hope your little ones are ready to learn, play, laugh, get messy, and explore because that's what our 2's and 3's classroom will be for!

  • samantha welch, Assistant teacher for K2-A and K3 classes

Hello. My name is Samantha Welch. I am so excited to have the opportunity to help provide a safe yet fun environment for your children to explore, learn, laugh, and play in throughout the year.

I was born and raised in Oak Harbor. I am currently attending Northwest University through their online program at Living Word, which has allowed me to stay here in Oak Harbor. Aside from doing school work and interning, I truly appreciate traveling, hiking, and being surrounded by people.

Looking forward to a wonderful school year!

  • Casey Provost-st.john, lead teacher for k2-b class

Hello! My name is Casey Provost-St.John.  I am excited to start the new school year at Grace Community Preschool with your children!

My husband and I have been married for the last nine years and have a 5 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. The Navy moved our family to Oak Harbor about 2 years ago, and we have really enjoyed being here.

In my free time I love to bake, read, write, paint and pretty much create anything I can. I have a mild coffee obsession and I am currently working on my first novel, which is an exciting experience.

I’m really looking forward to being a part of helping your children grow and learn this year!

  • SHERRI VANDERSTOEP, assistant teacher for k2-B class

Hello! My name is Sherri VanderStoep.

What a privilege and JOY it is to be working here at Grace Community Preschool. I am so excited to be able to interact with all of these sweet kiddos, providing lots of encouragement, big smiles, and hugs!

I am a Jesus follower, a wife, a mamma to five amazing children and a grandma to nine. They are my pride and joy and my sweetest gifts!

I love to bake (PS: coffee goes so well with ALL baked goods!), kayak, hike, red, and play board games with my family.

Again, I am so happy to be here and consider it an honor to be with your little ones.
