grace  community  preschool  teachers

  • debbie mitchell, director

Hello. My name is Debbie Mitchell. I was born in Oak Harbor. My dad was in the Navy, so I got to experience life off the island with wonderful summers visiting my grandparents here. My senior year of high school I got to come home to Oak Harbor, got married and raised my family here.

I have been serving and teaching children since I was 19 years old during Sunday School and Children's Church. During a move to Iowa for my husband's job, I served as Interim Preschool Director at Westview Church Preschool and then as an assistant teacher. I have loved teaching preschool ever since. It is such a joy to provide a fun, safe place to explore, learn, and play.

I look forward to what this year has in store as I get to know your child and help enrich their lives at Grace Community Preschool. What a great year of growth this will be!

  • SAMANTHA MITCHELL, CO-teacher for k4 class

Hi. My name is Samantha Mitchell. I cannot be more excited to start out this new school year teaching your kiddos!

I was asked to be a sub for about a month before the end of the last school year here at Grace. In that short period of time, my experience there was so welcoming from the staff and the kids that I knew Grace Community Preschool was the place I wanted to be.

What I look forward to in this new school year will be the art projects with the kids. Art has always been my main hobby/passion, and being able to help kids experience creativity at such a young age is very rewarding.

I am beyond excited to experience all the wonderful memories this year will have to offer!

  • Bronwyn Campbell, CO-TEACHER FOR K4 CLASS

Hello! My name is Bronwyn Campbell. I am a Whidbey Island native and one of eight kids. I spend a lot of time with my siblings and chasing after my  many nephews.

I was an active program aide with the Boys and Girls Club, and now I am excited to be working at Grace Community Preschool and encouraging your little one's development through play and exploration!

  • samantha welch, CO-TEACHER FOR K2 and K3 classes

Hello. My name is Samantha Welch. I am so excited to have the opportunity to help provide a safe yet fun environment for your children to explore, learn, laugh, and play in throughout the year.

I was born and raised in Oak Harbor. I am currently attending Northwest University through their online program at Living Word, which has allowed me to stay here in Oak Harbor. Aside from doing school work and interning, I truly appreciate traveling, hiking, and being surrounded by people.

Looking forward to a wonderful school year!

  • alexa beckley, co-teacher for k2 and k3 classes

Hello! My name is Alexa Beckley and I am very excited to join Grace Preschool's team of teachers!

I was born and raised in Yakima, WA, and then moved to Ellensburg where I attended CWU, receiving a BA in Elementary Education with a minor in theatre arts. I have two kids of my own, 3 and 6 years old. My oldest attended Grace Community Preschool for three years. We have grown to love and call Grace our second home

I am so excited for the fun adventures that this new school year will bring. I cannot wait to get to know you and your children more as we prepare for a successful year in which we focus on friendships, play, academics, and growing closer to Christ together.

  • SHERRI VANDERSTOEP, SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

Hello! My name is Sherri VanderStoep.

What a privilege and JOY it is to be working here at Grace Community Preschool. I am so excited to be able to interact with all of these sweet kiddos, providing lots of encouragement, big smiles, and hugs!

I am a Jesus follower, a wife, a mamma to five amazing children and a grandma to nine. They are my pride and joy and my sweetest gifts!

I love to bake (PS: coffee goes so well with ALL baked goods!), kayak, hike, red, and play board games with my family.

Again, I am so happy to be here and consider it an honor to be with your little ones.
